Hey everyone. I'm trying to make a crease in a car I'm trying to model but just can't seem to figure out how. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
I've attached a photo showing what I mean:
indentation?

Re: indentation?
Just guessing here, but you could try extruding the part (polygon "region")
that gets surrounded by the creases by a very small amount,
thus "merely suggesting" the crease...

edit: edited out a very very very stupid remark!!! (just woke up...

Re: indentation?
Did I post in the wrong place? Sorry!
Hmm.. Won't extruding just those faces ruin my topology/edgeflow?

First of all: no, you didn't post in the wrong thread, I made a stupid mistake...
I was merely expressing that I wanted to see more
and didn't even notice you already posted it in the WIP thread...
My bad, sorry...
(in my defense, I just woke up
)
As to the edgeflow: I've suggested extruding as you would at least keep clean quads and wouldn't have to add edges to keep a nice edgeflow going. You could obviously try beveling the affected edges, but that can lead to very much cleanup work in my experience. Another option would be displacement, but I think that would be overkill for a "simple crease"...

Re: indentation?
Cut new loops as I have painted and duplicate and push the polygons that I have painted. That is a start. We will have to deal with any problems that occur. Since I see only one camera angle, it's hard to tell if everything will work out.
