Hello SI Community !

Post by Ironice » 20 Jan 2020, 17:56

Just want to say hello to all Softimage Users :ymhug:
Working with since maybe 1990. First of all with Softimage|3D, Softimage|Eddie on Indigo R10k Extreme.
Than Softimage on Alpha|NT. 2015 changed to Modo. Only 3 years, thought this was the best alternative. Last Version was 9,5-10. Sooo buggy and unusable with heavy Scenes. 1,5 years with Maya. My goodness. Nothing learnd from Softimage. Hypershade is the dinosaur in Material editing, linking Lights, Passes.... No one is better with Passes as SI. Now back to SI. Iam rendering since 5 years with Redshift.
Iam looking with big eyes to Blender 2.8 and above. I think i give it a try. On other Hand Unreal with all its Free Stuff. But SI will never Die.

You can also try SyCles, but yeah, definietly it pays off to know how to deal with Cycles natively on Blender, THEN, use them on Softimage. But there's huge documented Cycles materials on Blender Guru, it´s a no brainer. But I will side with you with "nothing beats Redshift". Only it stop it's support back on 2.45 I think it was?
They are now on 2.60? I believe?
Sycles is 2.81 so I guess, there will be continuous support.
Blender Certified Trainer here, so ask and we'll help. :)

Don't forget Cycles for Softimage provide a lot of shaders bonus :)
