Realistic Phisical Sun setting
Hi all, i'm trying to setup a exterior scene with the Phisical Sky/Sun system. I've changed the light shader from softlight to Mia Phisical Sun and added a Mia Photographic Exposure; but the result is not too good; So i was wondering if you have any suggestion to set up a realistic exterior scene....

Well....
Your information is a bit... not informative ;-)
What did you do so far, workflow?
can you supply a screenshot of the part that doesn't look right?
What kind of effect did you expect?
What kind of shader setup are you rendering?
What are your settings of the various PPG's?
etc.
etc.
etc.

Re: Realistic Phisical Sun setting
well, my workflow is:
-Add Phisical Sky/Sun
-Change the Sun shader from Soft Ligth to Mia Phisical Sun and set the multiplyer to 0,02
-My shaders are most Architectural
-I use only FG for this scene, cause i've only the Sun light
here a screen:
without focusing on the grainy look (cause i can fix increasin the sample of glosiness in the materials), the main problem is that the floor hasn't to bee too washed up like in the image, that green has to be more "green".
Another problem is the shadow sharpness, don't know why the Phisical Sun can't cast more soft shadows....

Re: Realistic Phisical Sun setting
Why is it so dark?
Shouldn't it be much brighter with a sun/sky system?

Re: Realistic Phisical Sun setting
i thinks it's cause the Sun Multiplyer is set ti 0.02 ; but if i increase, it burns everything....

Re: Realistic Phisical Sun setting
The sky should give you much more light than you show on your render.
It's a bit odd..
For the burnout start tweaking the tonemapper to see if that will help.
Are you working in a linear workflow btw??

Re: Realistic Phisical Sun setting
Yes, I meant the Mia Photographic exposure.
Regarding your answer, I don't think you work in a linear fashion:
http://www.rowu-media.nl/content/prive/ ... Gamma.html
It's one or the other, if you do both, images will tend to wash out a lot due to the double gamma correction.
Also, then sun/sky settings will differ somewhat when working non-linear and the tonemapper/Mia Photographic exposure lens shaders.
I'm a bit busy the rest of the day, if you can maybe put the scene up for DL, so I can have a look.

p.s. check the link Hirazi gave, and search for sun/sky and SI.

Re: Realistic Phisical Sun setting
ok i've read your doc on the linear workflow; i've applied to my scene and now i've this:
i think the dark bug is gone, and this is a big foot ahead, now i'm downloading the addon from Hirazi link and i'll see what comes out ^^

Re: Realistic Phisical Sun setting
here it is:
i think the result is much much better of my starting point, but the issue of the color is still there.... in the square there's the real color of the floor.... notice the difference....
