Nit Animation

Post by Pete » 26 Apr 2010, 11:54

Hey there,
This is just a little animation from last year I figured I might as well put it up here finally, see what you think. I was a little under a month and I was on everything - sound (so go easy)

Thanks Hirazi! Yes, it was a pretty unusual job :)
It was good though because it gave me the opportunity to test out some things I'd been meaning to for a while, such as the bendy arm and leg rig on the character. I was also pretty happy to get zbrush displacenent to work.

hey it looks really great!
Character is fantastic!

One thing that I'm wondering about is hair and rendering :)
I'm in the middle of our first big project with bunch of furry characters and while I already solved a lot of problems and got hair to work and render pretty nicely and fast I was wondering if you could be bothered to give couple of tips and tricks about rendering, channels passes or what did you use? If you sued SI hair at all of course :)
I'm hitting my head in the walls all around, like a labyrinth for me and hitting dead ends all the time ;)
Any help to see what waits ahead with rendering for compositing would be great!

Thanks and again, great work!

Hey Thanks!,
Sorry, I got buried in work and forgot to get back to you!
I did this a year ago and the details are pretty faint in my memory but I do remember that the hair was a troublesome thing, and this hair style isn't even particularly complicated! But as far as comping goes, I had a pass that separated the hair out and it was lit separately.
Recently there have been a few nice looking ICE hair implementations that are definitely worth a look at if you are not to far into your project.
You probably already know about them but just in case you don't, check these out.
