How can I exclude a point cluster from an ICE tree?

I have a (probably very simple) problem, but I'm not using ICE as often as I should, so I can't make it work.

The problem is that I can't find a way to exclude certain parts of a mesh from an ICE tree.
The mesh is pretty heavy, and I'd like to have the effect localized (it's a tension map, pretty much the same setup as the one by Paul smith). Any idea how to approach this issue, and exclude a point cluster from the calculations? Any help is appreciated

There's 'is_element' attribute, if point cluster exist. Bring 'get data' to ICE tree, double click and navigate via 'explorer' from there to attribute under point cluster, use boolean result as 'if' for entire ICE tree. Should be much faster, but not as fast as an ICE tree on separated object, of same size as point cluster (from my experience).
