I just can say it's awesome! Love that super fast poly modeling workflow.

So they started to think about ease of use. Good news. Houdini guys need to follow them.

I will say that the poly modeling workflow seems very easy. Of course we need to try first, but I'm excited. Looks fun and solid.

this spacebar menu is both weird and stunning. it's a joy to see interaction innovation happening when everyone is asking to just copy this or that other application.

OT...so true, as AD did a really great in innovating 3D at all...sometimes porting stuff is not a bad idea, if it just makes a software more usable and easier. And sometimes it´s hard to make things better, as one might see AD´s struggle to get for example Maya more user friendly..or "humanized"...so why not stay with approved ways to tackle things...? I can´t see any bad in this. That does not mean more innovative ways of interaction might not be found.

I would prefer a new interaction workflow for Maya than what's in Softimage if it's better. Right now it isn't. 3ds Max is even more behind. If there's a way, I would like to see it. I'm quite sure the Soft devs are capable of creating such a thing.

Problem is ... people are adverse to change.

There is a quite a bit of change coming for Maya, and long time users will be moved out of their comfort zones. That said, it's more conservative than this "big ass spacebar menu". It's just totally left field for me, but in a good way. What I'm surprised here is that that there is no attempt to clone anything else, like mirai/modo/max/silo/nendo, but there may be some minor modeling app or plugin that had this which I'm not familiar with. I don't like these 3d orange UI widgets though. Reminds of some older .mod players UI or winamp skins.

I can't wait to see this changes. I've realized that Max will remain the same for a long time, so it's better to see change in Maya. I'm curious. 2016 might be the start of something for AD.

They are going to change Maya to behave more like a 3ds max? Navigation, speed, locked UI... etc?

Lol. Dont do that. I would love to see Max UI improved but I've seen someone saying that users wouldn't like to see a new release with only UI work. That depends, since it's a necessity.

2016 will say a lot for where Max is heading.

I don't follow 3dsmax closely, but it was my understanding that the UI in fact keeps changing since 2008, (caddies, ribbon, menus, window docking, scene explorer, animation editor, node based shading, workspaces, etc) so I'm surprised that you think they needs to work more on max UI. If anything I thought the users wanted that to slow down a bit

Problem is the Max UI got slower through the new versions. The ribbon is terrible, it slows Max, occupies a lot of space. I would prefer to have the PolyBoost tools as a toolbar, as it always were.

Every time I open the Max Slate Material, the icons needs to be rendered. When you choose to open the "choose from list" icon, there's a lag of a few seconds, etc etc. It's the little things that need to be improved. I'll bet that Max users would like the flexibility that Modo or Cinema 4D has for UI editing. Max has a problem of when it starts doing some heavy operation, like rendering, fracturing, etc, it gives that Windows error of the screen turning white, when the software crashes. But generally, it hasn't crashed and you don't know if you wait or not. Little things like this happens all the time.

People still prefer to use the plugin Nested Layer Manager than what Autodesk has put in Max.

It's growing on the number of requests.

Anyway ... every software has something to be improved. :)
