I've been trying for some time now to get to grips with the "UV to location" node. Wanting to add points to a point cloud corresponding to the shape of a curve this seemed to be the logical approach. However when I plug a value into the "UV" slot of the "UV to Location" this doesn't seem to be producing any (to me) "logical" result. One would expect 0.5 to be halfway the curve and 0.25 at one quarter of the curve. This doesn't seem to be so, however. So now my question is: is there an easy conversion to get a location halfway on the curve using UV to location?
I just don't get it, but then again, that's a nice motto for the role ICE plays in my life, anyway...
PS I am fully aware this is probably something shockingly basic. Please be gentle...

The relationship between U and the distance along the curve depends on the parameterization. When you first get or draw a curve, the parameterization should be uniform but that goes away as soon as you start moving or adding points. You can re-parameterize the curve by choosing Modify > Curve Parameterize and selecting Uniform -- that should give you what you want. Alternatively there is a Curve Distance to Curve Location compound in Phil's ICE pack but it's not compatible with array inputs (so you can't feed it a linearly interpolated array of distances and get an array of locations).

Ah, that makes a lot of sense...
Thanks...

Hi,
In mt-strands-nodes addon, that you already posted here, there is a hard coded node called mt_StrandFitting , that doing exactly what I think you want. It accept array of point positions too. Usually, you use this node as a some kind of 'post processing', after you created array of 3d vectors in some way.
Cheers

Hmmm, I must look at it some more...
The "strand" in its name seemed to imply it should only be used in conjunction with strands... Silly me...
Thanks
