Yes, that is one of the best animations of pretty much anything I have ever seen...mind-blowing on just how awesome the orangutan is. The whole commercial is very well done and I think it will win plenty of awards! Congrats to the team that worked on the project!

99.99999999% is arnold. but what is quite interesting is that they used built in Softimage Hair system for fur lol.

I'm guessing they used it to artistically groom, but then it was transferred to strands to tweak/render.

Seens Maya was used for modeling. Maybe more? The video cover, where is written on the top, modeling, you see clearly Maya viewport.

I wonder how the VorleX muscle system would have stacked-up in terms of ease of use/performance

Nevertheless SI seems to be great for (hyperealistic) monkey business :]
