Hi there!
This is a short proof of concept, that you can build some interactive HDRI lighting tools with Softimage under usage of emRPC from Eric Mootz ;)
I may release this if someone finds it helpful...
cheers,

Hum! Looks like a very interactive way to edit and visualize (in full 3D) HDRI light sources!
If you don't mind my asking, if the particles are "textured" would that reflect (litterally :] ) on the lit model?
(also perhaps with more particle resolution for sharper reflections?)
And please DO release it, as it makes for yet another great (& unintended/unorthodox) use/purpose for EM-RPC.
and looks like a most efficient/-visual- way to do studio/environment lighting.
In any event, Kudos!

I´ll add some more features, like falloffs and stuff like that. A pity that you can´t use gradients in a custom PPG or parameter set..I will see, how far I can get this ;)
In ppgs there are the color gradients isn't that what you mean?

This is so cool but there is a way to do IBL lighting like "HDR Light Studio" with help of FXTree.

Maybe they took the idea from this tutorial!

Is it me? or are there posts missing here?
@nDman Yeah, using tools in unintended ways seems to be the story of Softimage's life :0)
(probably because of the 'everything working with everything' part of SI :] )

Apologies specially to owei, i might made a mess with my new moderator powers and did click in edit in his post, at least it shows what i was about to post.
But it still strange since there was a mine post here and it disappeared and i did nothing to it.

FXtree could be used, of course, but it does not support half nor full float bit image depth...
Concerning the PPGs...some messages git messed up, I guess.
Custom ppgs do not support gradients, unfortunately. Nor you can insert a custom parameter like "color". That´s quite bad. I think, they wanted to make this possible, but EOL decision ended that, I guess...Also tabs for ICE nodes would have been great...but, as you all know..the suc*ers from the big evil company did a good job ;)
cheers,
oli

Nice one, Oli! Clever stuff, curious to see what extras you will come up with. Gradient sky etc would of course be great.

Hey guys!
Thanks for your comments, but I did not find any time the last weeks to pick it up again...
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. I´ll try to consider your thoughts, like a sky/sun setup...thanks Jasper for mentioning it ;)
If you have any further suggestions, let me know ;)
cheers,
oli

Hi there,
because i´m working with Redshift i´ve found few weeks ago this link:
http://shaders.moederogall.com/
You will find there a Softimage XSI Plugin/Addon for the HDRI Lightstudio-Tool.
Works with Redshift and Arnold.
But i haven´t try it, maybe it is an alternative way?
I´m using the HDRI-Lightstudio always with MODO, and it is a great workflow.
