how to model poly by poly in xsi

hi friends , i'm eager to model a car inside xsi ..... me going to use only poly modeling to model the car ...... can i use poly by poly method to do it .....is there any tutorials to get a rough idea ? ...thanx :)

It strange, but I can't seem to find any (good) "poly by poly" modeling tutorials for Softimage. The basic technique however is simple, although it takes some time to master, obviously...
1 Create a very small polymesh grid with no subdivision, which will function as the very first polygon.
2 Place this correctly (corresponding to your reference images)
3 Duplicate or Extrude edges and tweak the point/edge position
4 Repeat step 3 until you're ready :D

Other poly modeling tools (can) obviously also come into play, but basically that's all that's to it (technique-wise) ;)

And, obviously, feel free to ask if you get stuck!!!

thank u soo much "Hirazi Blue" for ur kind and quick reply ....now i have the idea :) ......for the extrude function i use Ctrl + D ....is there any different way to do it ? .... thanx :)

Ctrl + D actually is the duplicate command, which IMHO is better for poly by poly modeling than extrude... ;)

ohh thanx mate ..... i forgot that to check the duplicate menu 8-| i just checked the Edit > Duplicate menu ...... Ctrl + D is for duplicating for sure :-bd
