how to give a thickness to a poly in XSI

hello everyboy

hi friends i needed to give a thickness to a poly surface in xsi...so i did below steps

as shown in the pic the bottom face isn't closed...i can close it manually by using bridging tool.....but is there any shortcut to give a thickness directly to a poly mesh ?

if the latest versions of softimage|xsi didnt have such a bad netview, you wouldnt have this problem :\
check the attachment: just drag the script over to your toolbar, say ok, and click the newly created button while having your mesh selected.

oh boy... when will softimage have a useless cube on the top right corner of each viewport?

yeah if we have a good shortcut for maximizing view port ( F12 instead ) it would be good too

edit - wow i just saw ur site .....really nice works mate .....that cartoon little children one is really really cute

and thanx for sharing the animation demos ..... eager to try them in xsi

..but i'm still practicing modeling

when i surfing xsi base, accidentally me found solidify 2 plugin http://www.xsibase.com/scripts/modeling.php?detail=877 ....... but don't know how to download it ....when i click on that it takes me to another site but there's no link to be found

This comes from the "local backup" at rray.de as the author of the plugin,
Helge Mathee closed his website recently, when he changed jobs... ;)

hi mate... i downloaded without any issue

.......... but how can i install it ;;) .....the downloaded folder contains 3 files .....i just dragged and dropped to xsi interface the file called "applysolidify2".... but didn't work as the former plug in given by the member craft.... i think i have to put the all 3 files some where in the installation folder of xsi $:-\$ ...by the way i covered the modeling basics of xsi in digital tutors

it's time to experiment further myself regarding modeling .....thanx

Could it be, you're using a 64 bit version of XSI/Softimage?
The solidify2 plugin seems to be "win32" only...

Hmm, I can't test it, as I am using 64 bit myself...

You could try the original SolidifyXSI script by Helge Mathee.
Set your script editor to VBScript, load it into the editor and run from there...
Some instructions are included in the code itself...

I think Interactive Thickness script is a best/most simple to use shell plugin for XSI...

right click the link and choose "save as.." ? just make sure you save it as "something".xsiaddon and then drag and drop to the viewport (not the toolbar) into xsi. dunno where you can then access it's functionalities because i aint got that one installed..you gotta search a bit.

thanx carft.... this addon worked like a charm ....... has got more control .... i just saved it and dropped it on to xsi viewport ...... then can be found at Modify > polymesh > Interactive Thickness

.... can some one test it on a 64bit version if they r currently using that version coz i'm going to migrate to 64bit soon

Yes it works in 64bit. You can run this scrirpt also from alt right clicck menu which is abit faster than navigating menus
