I've tried it, seens more precise than the usual photo scan i have seen around, but has no use, since we can just visualize in the native format, even export in any familiar format is impossible

You can export your model in .OBJ, not only in S3C format (native format).

I couldn't get this working with my Nokia 920 phone (unknown sensor size).
Does this work for your phones? Which phone do you have?

Has anyone tried Autodesk ReCap? Thoughts?

How is ReCap 360 (photo) different from 123D catch?
Similar to Sketchbook 7 vs Sketchbook 2015?

Good questions. There's parallels to the Sketchbook comparisons, but at the same time different.dwigfor wrote:How is ReCap 360 (photo) different from 123D catch?

Many people confuse the two and think that 123d is the only service we provide.
123d Catch, and the 123d suite of tools in general are more for the hobbyist and non-commercial use. You can pay a small fee to go premuim with 123d and that can give you commercial usage for some things.
ReCap, the desktop application for working with scan data, and ReCap 360, the cloud photogrammetry service are the more professional versions, and you have more features for you to use.. If you have an active Subscription with Maya, Max and Mudbox, you get access to the free version of ReCap 360, which allows up to 50 images at 12 megapixels, 25GB storage, etc. That's not bad for some subjects.
There is an 'Ultra' version for ReCap 360, which can pay to use with a Subs fee. It's something like £45 (ex VAT) for the year, which (imo) is very accessible.
For that you can got to 250 images, smart texturing, better tools for calibrating the pics, and we throw in some cloud credits too (150 I think)
I've been trying the service myself, and once you begin to understand how to get the most out of the subject and photos, you can get some very good results. I think we'll see these types of photogrammetry tools being used more and more.
ReCap also supports GoPro, so we've done some tests with a UAV drone, very cool.

And bringing the conversation back to Acute3d, I wonder how this differs from both Recap and 123D catch....
"We are proud of our partnerships with several industry leaders. In 2011, we licensed the Smart3DCapture technology to Autodesk. Is is now integrated it at the very heart of Autodesk's cloud based services 123D Catch and ReCap Photo."
I just wish I could have gotten Acute3d working with my Nokia Lumia 920...

That's an even better question. Honestly I don't know.
Previously Autodesk had a product called Imagemodeller, and ReCap and various things seems to have risen from that product group.
The obvious difference is that Acute can be used as a desktop solution and Photo on ReCap 360 is cloud based.
