I'm playing around with states which is really powerful and fun, but was wondering if there was a way to have softer transitions between particles being triggered into next states? My first state forces particles to follow along a curve. Then it's triggered by a "test time in state" to move toward a goal. it works but I need them to have smoother motion between these states.
Any ideas?

Hi,
one way would be to store the attributes that you mean to change, upon entering the state. Then base all modifications on those initial values.

Re: Soft transitions between states
It is not possible to create a smooth transition between states themselves, however it is possible to smoothly blend in the move towards goal-mechanic.
In the example below we take the goal position and subtract it from our pointpositions so that we have a vector that points directly towards our goal. And then we really tone that vector down so that the effect isn't so harsh. The rest is simple velocityblending.
With this you should be able to archive the result you desire, sorry that I can't help you with your stateproblem but they simply don't work that way. =)
Hope this helps.

Re: Soft transitions between states
Cool, I will give this a go and see what the result is. Thanks guys
