Delete points inside Point Cloud?

This might be tricky since what is "inside" can be variable to what resolution we want to take from point cloud - the minimal distance we choose between particles/points that we consider to make the virtual external surface.

What will be the best approach to this one?

Sure, there are particles or points that are in extremities of a point cloud volume, those i want to remain but the inside ones should be deleted.

i've already do that by shrinkwraping a volume sphere onto the point cloud, so after that you just have to delete ;-)

a quick hack in ICE might be

get all point positions

average these

get current point position distance to this average

isolate a bunch furthest away

delete the rest

Couldn't you abuse Thiago Costa's ancient Particle Density compound
(Area login required) for something like this?

not so sure as (far as can remember) that was representing a scalar for amounts of closest neighbors within a fixed distance to each point.. but looks like it could work

you could also trace a ray from the current particle to the particle emission location and check if there is particle inside a specified cone, this could work but the shrinkwrap method with a secondary geometry (an ice shrinkwrap with get closest position...) work very well
