My new Bot

Post by Diurno » 16 Feb 2010, 08:33

Hi all, i'm working on the idea of a robot, i want to restyle a my old creation. Now i'm working on the arm; i've modeled the base and inserted many functions as the fingers and the blade. Hope you like it:

Looks like a decent start... ;)
Do you already have some kind of sketch of the robot lying around somewhere, you would be willing to share,
or is it still "touch and go"?

i don't have any sketch, cause i'm really really bad in drawing... so i always work in "Touch and Go" or photo references... :D

Now i'm focusing on "functionality" of the robot; the fingers and the blade are all driven with custom parameters, and the fingers are also rigged with bones, so once they are out they can be animated as i wish ^^

Okay, let me rephrase my earlier question... :D
Will this be a "bipedal" bot or more of a "Dalek" kind of bot?

Nerdy side-note - A Dalek isn't a bot, "obviously"... You know what I mean (I hope)... :-

a little Wip....kinda slow to model it, the challenge is that i don't have any complete atwork of it, so now my workflow is:

-builda piece....

-mmmm i don't like that....delete

-rebuild that...

-cool, but it can't work once rigged....delete

-rerebuild.... ok

that little "hat" on his head opens with a custom parameter linked to some stuff, and a "monocle" comes out :p

Your workflow sounds painfully familiar and your bot is starting to look great! :D

What does your bot look like from a perspective below the bot? Or is it too uninteresting? ;)

Well, I understand that, but is it merely one continuous surface, or does the underside of your bot sport some kind of grille, engine exhaust or something?

And at last....an update; i've finished the right arm, the hand was really painfull....

and also, i've modelet the shield that comes out from the forearm, all is controlled by custom parameters.
At render time the blue part will be rendered with an energy something....you know, like the Halo shields ^^
