3d scanners in the 1 - 2k range that work nicely

I just wonder whether there is anything which one can afford, but which actually gives you something semiprofessional. I know about the David Laserscanner, but the workflow and time spent for a scan seem to be ridiculous. Once tried it myself. The structured light scanner might be interesting though.

But apart from that, is there anything which costs about 2.000€ max? The Kinect scanner is kind of great, but only for your sofa. Smaller items can not be scanned. THere are several start ups, but no idea if that is something and when it'll be available.

Anybody an idea?

I think I'd be looking at a decent DSLR and agisoft Photoscan or similar to get scans done if I had to these days.

Hi Matt, that's what I'm doing all the time. But if you want to create 360 scans it becomes tricky. I works nicely with a ground the object rests on. Like with a grid on it. But as soon as you put your object on a tripod and rotate it, shooting against a white or dark background, errors occur and the whole stuff doesn't work. Therefore something like a Kinect on steroids would be great. Just move the scanner around the object as long as you got all the details and resolution. Unfortunately the Kinect doesn't work for small objects.

The Fuel 3D looks to be what you are asking for, Contact them directly to see if they can ship to you. I know it hasnt been formally released but sometimes you can get them before.

I see alot of different teqniques, see what it fits to your needs.
and also check the density of the scan, output formats, and see if you need or not color capture.
