Disconnect edge in an animated Syflex cloth

I want a spear to cut trough an animated syflex cloth, my question is how i should look/think at this.

My idea is to test if the spear mesh is in contact with cloth and then use a topology disconnect component.
Would this work with an animated cloth?
Still to think the deformation/resistance that cloth do to with the cutting, it could be fake, just a null deforming the cloth at spear cutting place.
