Find Command for Key Map

Post by Frank1000 » 31 Oct 2013, 14:42

Hi, i’m trying to assign custom key mapping for “Animation/Copy Animation/from Marked Parameters” and went to “File/Keyboard Mapping” then hit on”View in Browser” to find the group the commands is assigned to ... but after trying out some possible search criteria, wasn’t able to find a command that has to do with “copy from marked parameters”.
Is it that it has another name in the backend of SI, or that not all commands are layed out in the KeyMap editor or “View in Browser” ?
If this needs scripting, how would I proceed ?

Pls share :-o

Not sure, if there isn't any you can always use the custom command wizard:
1. File->Plugin Manager.
2. Right click Plugins under user root and start the wizard using new->command
3. Put "CopyAnimation()" into the execute function. That custom command will be listed in the keyboard dialog once you save the scripting file.

What rray meant was that you first press the "Generate Code", which creates a script file with the framework for your code in place, which you can view in the script editor, then you find the execute function in that script and insert your own code there.
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

ok thx. Now when I call it "CopyAnimation" it indicates it is already a command there. Guess that command would cover what i need already, but when searching it in the kay-map browser it wouldn't show up. Do you happen to know how to find back that already existing CopyAnimation command else way, so to assign the shortcut key to it ?

CopyAnimation exists a command, but it's not assignable to a hotkey, it can only be called from a script, that's why you'll have to make a custom command (script), and call CopyAnimation from there.

Any custom command you create can be assigned to a hotkey, so this will work very likely as you planed.

Just pick a different name than CopyAnimation for your custom command, and press the Genarete Code button. The pregenerated script code appears and you can paste the line "Application.CopyAnimation();" into the execute function then save the script file. After that you can see the custom command in the keyboard mapping window.
