hello guys,
i work on a helicopter landing project and want to make an effect in ice for my instaced grass meshes.
i need an bend effect with frequency in ice. i allready simulate the overall grass with a ice deformation node but i want a solution for a helicopter the flights over and bend the grass.
thanks and greetings, contac

Check this from Tekano https://sites.google.com/site/tekanoice ... ers-part-i and don't forget part 2

hello Bullit,
thanks for your support
strands are cool to see but i only need a sphere as a colission dummy and a way to link the dummy to effect any field with the deformation node like the mesh deformation
thanks,greetings, contac

Have you seen this thread? Perhaps that will help (wmv and scn file at end)

I don't understand how are you speaking about deformations and bend if it's instanced grass meshs... because if you want to deform them the only solution is deforming by strands, so... the ice flowers tutorial reference is a good start

Hello dwigfor,
no i dont know this old thread, now i know what ice have for many capility at this long time before also.
its a nice simulation for sand, i have try this with million particles but this was very slow, any way to write the simulation on hdd and a way to write i back only as backed simulation ? can i connect lagoa also to this ice nodes ?
its not the right solution but helpful for sand and dust.
NNois i search a way to simulate bending with a sphere dummy as collision. when i move the dummy in mesh area the want to bend with this dummy the meshes like in the particle simulation example but for the bend ice node.
thanks and greetings, contac

Re: Instaced meshes deformation for wind dynamics
Can you explain how you use the "bend ice node" on your instances ? because you can't instance things and expect to bend them differently if it's the same source mesh, this is the principle of "instances".Contac wrote: NNois i search a way to simulate bending with a sphere dummy as collision. when i move the dummy in mesh area the want to bend with this dummy the meshes like in the particle simulation example but for the bend ice node.

hey dwigfor,
awesome solution only for sand.
NNois i use the scatter node with a turbulize mesh node. and it works.
i search a way to connect a null with a affect when i go to a area what he need to bend.
thanks and greetings, contac

Re: Instaced meshes deformation for wind dynamics
I just don't get it, you says in your first post
1. You had converted you instances to a mesh so you could actually play with a deformer
2. You are working with blade of grass instanced on a point cloud, you can't use a deformer, so you need to bend each blade with stranddeform OR simulating it with a rotation on each blade.
the tutorial you shows in your previous post is about deforming a mesh not instances... right ? are we talking about instanced grass or not ?want to make an effect in ice for my instaced grass meshes

Re: Instaced meshes deformation for wind dynamics
Hello NNois,
the tutorial shows the deform of a mesh yes. i have scattered my meshes over a other mesh with pointclouds
and now this helps my to deform the mesh what was scattered with the pointcloud.
anybody can help how i can connect a mesh to the node compound ? http://vimeo.com/groups/ice/videos/62966820
