change expose type of exposed port properties

How can i change the expose type in a ice compound?

If i change from single to anything else i get:

' WARNING : Cannot set the expose type of the port to the requested value.

What is the port connected to (node)? If the node port does not support multiple instance it will not allow you to set the port type.
