Clone Topo

Post by grreez » 24 Aug 2013, 14:52

Hello Guys
I'm trying to build something using the topology ice nodes and would like to find out how to use the Clone Topo node. I was looking up for some examples but there is nothing and the documentation is so narrow. What i am trying to do is to clone a topology several times so i can access each of the clones later and apply some transformations. How do i access the clones?
Please Help.

I tried using this at work this week and couldn't figure it out either. I ultimately used a modeling sample scene and used a point cloud for transforms instead of what was provided.

Chris's ice procedural bridge tutorial on vimeo might help. I didn't take time to rewatch, but I think that's the best ice modeling tutorial out there.

I watched the procedural bridge tutorial and he doesn't use this node. Seems like a tool that nobody can use it. Ridiculous!.

Help File Says This
Creates multiple copies of the input topology. No transformation is applied so all copies are superimposed. However, later in the ICE tree you can distinguish between components on different copies and apply different transforms by using Modulo on the component indices, as done in Create Copies from Polygon Mesh.

im playing with the get copy index and some other nodes and hopefully will get what im hoping for.

Ok seems like Transform per Copy compound does not work because the Self.CopyTopology_Transforms is not initialized.

I ended up with this compound, its a simplified version. Didn't have enough time playing with copy topo node but will be exploring it further.
