Ice Particle problem

Post by Contac » 12 Aug 2013, 20:07

hello guys, i have a big problem, i work with slipstreamvx with ice and my own terrain and want the particle have the same size like on the example szene.

here is the includet example szene frome slipstreamvx http://r58i.img-up.net/ice2d7c2.JPG

here is my example http://u35i.img-up.net/icee54b.JPG

when i scale my terrain to the example size it works, but when i import my terrain its larger scaled and dont works.

any idea how i can fix this ?

greetings, contac

the 1 picture is the example szene that was includet in splipstreamvx.

the 2 picture is the example szene but i have edit this with my own terrain.

the 1 picture have nice big particles arround on the surface.

the 2 picture what i have modified with my own terrain works a bit but the particle are to small.
the particles moves arround the surface but the particle is to small.

i need the same result frome picture 1.

when i scaling my terrain of the example terrain size it works, but when my terrain scale is to high than the example size doesn't works.

i have try to fix this with set size node but it works not.

any idea how i can fix this to become the same particle size result like picture 1 ?

Friendly advise: Please stop apologizing for your English. If you are able to communicate, make others understand what you mean & you are able to understand them, the quality of your English is of secondary importance at best. Most of us are not English speaking from birth and most of us (should) fully understand this...

If you just needed to scale up the particles to match the other size, I would try:
Get Particle Size -> Multiply By Scalar -> Set Particle Size -> ICE Tree (plugged after the simulate)

If the scene scale is causing the particles to simulate differently, I'm not really sure how to solve that. Maybe Get Particle Position -> multiply by scalar (scale the particles)-> add (so you can offset position) -> Set Particle Position -> Ice Tree (after simulate)

Can't see the problem... I saved your 2 images from the links and superimposed them in photoshop; they are identical pictures... Perhaps you uploaded the wrong 2nd picture?

If it a scale problem you can use the rescale node to rescale the positions of particles kine.global.pos>rescale> positions in add point node(this node might be inside one of emit node compounds so you might have to expose that)

thanks bullit for your response and support.

iam a newbie in ice and i dont know how i must plug my nodes. here is screen of my ice nodes.

http://q55i.img-up.net/ice2d69e.JPG

i have found the rescale node but i dont know how i must connect the node.

i have 2 ice trees one in point cloude what you see in the explorer and the other is in air dust volume 1

here is a screen frome air dust volume 1 ice tree http://e23i.img-up.net/icenew22eab.JPG

You have to do it in point cloud were the particles have a dimension you think is wrong. Below an example- i don't know if this is the correct point cloud-

For example in first image with "Emit from volume" node go inside that node "emit from volume" and in "add point node" get the "positions1" that has a yellow port, bring the yellow connection and expose it in the "emit from volume". In it connect a rescale node and then in rescale node connect to its "value" port a kine.global.pos. The rescale node will change it's appearance and will have x,y.z If you want that their positions are 10 time distance between particles put 10 in target end, if you want positions 10 times closer put 0,1 .

If there is no interaction in scene and simulation is already done you might even do this with cache and scale the cache.

hello bullit, thanks for your effort, time and support to help me.

now i have the add point node added on the ice tree, where do I put this node ?

http://h54i.img-up.net/ice33d37.JPG

i was also inside in emit from volume node but i have not found any add point node.

An add point node ill not help since the particles you have in the scene are added by an add point node so another one would not help , dig deeper :)

It is inside "generate points" node which is inside "emit from volume" , so you'll have to bring it from there. You are scaling the positions of the particles that you are emitting so you have to make this with add point node that belongs to the emitter and created your particles.

hey bullit, thanks for your answer.

ok to understand all i have open the icetree frome point cloud, than i opened the emit from volume node and than the generate points node and in this node i have found the add point node.

is this all correct ?

how i can edit now my particle size ?

in the add point node i cannot find any settings.

Set data > self.size

I already explained what you should do with add point node in my earlier posts.
My solution is not for particle size issue but for scale issue of the point cloud.

Hello Guys,

sorry for the delay, iam back now.

Hello dwigfor many thanks for your support, but cannot follow your instructions because i dont know how i must connect my nodes.

multiply by scalar is busy with add node and set point position.

I dont understand your instruction bullit.

I was in Emit frome Volume Node, than inside in generate points than in add points, have found the position1 but i dont know what you mean with connect to emit frome volume node.

I want my scale particles, can someone give me a tip?

I have ready many tips but i understood not any of the instructions :-o
Guys have in mind iam a ice newbie i dont know what ice node must connect so please write a detailed instruction for instance like got to icetree and plug air dust volume 1 to emit frome volume node.

thanks soo mutch guys for your support ! \m/
