I heard Autodesk plans to discontinue MotionBuilder in the future. I think this is why they implemented HIK in Maya. With these kinda news I couldn't think differently for the bright future of Softimage

hell, no, not motion builder. It's being used more and more in big virtual productions and games and there is nothing that does realtime motion capture in autodesk's portfolio. Motion capture is critical to the industry
