Toon Wire shader

Post by Diurno » 26 Nov 2009, 10:52

I all, i need to achieve a "wire" effect, and by the fact I need in a separate pass, i can't use the capture mode; so i read that there is a shader called Toon Wire byt Soft3d that can do the trick, but i don't have it..... can someone give it to me?

If you use the capture mode, you have it on a separate pass... render your beauty pass, then set a new pass with constant white, for all objects, and set the background to white too. Hide the grid, manipulators etc...and capture. You'll have your beauty and your wire in two separated passes.

PS : don't forget the wire anti aliasing mode during your capture.

The Toon Wire shader does still exist, however it seems to be extremely well hidden (as it doesn't seem to be directly accessible from Softimage & the corresponding SPDL doesn't seem to be registered with Softimage automatically). Could be that I am missing something obvious, but this is what I did to dreg it up...
go to Plugin Manager - SPDL - Install
find C:\Softimage\Softimage_2010_SP1_x64\Application\phenolib\spdl\soft3d\toon_wire.mat.spdl
after installing right click "toon_wire.mat" in the Plugin Manager & choose "Regenerate Preset"
FYI - This shader only seems to work, when the ink lines are supplied by the "Cartoon" lens shader, not the "Toon Ink" lens shader... ;)

edit: corrected the path to toon_wire. The original path referred to the spdl I registered as a User shader... :ymblushing:

Sorry, something went wrong in my last post, i.e. I pasted the wrong path:
C:\Softimage\Softimage_2010_SP1_x64\Application\phenolib\spdl\soft3d\toon_wire.mat.spdl

i-)
