move objects form one file to another without import/export?

if I open 2 or more softimage, is there a way that can copy/paste geometries/renderTrees... from one to another without import/export?

this can be done in ice tree, but not for any other things in xsi?

Not possible for objects. Though render tree nodes worked though (I haven't touched the render tree in years).

but i cannot copy render tree from one opening file to another.
for objects, i do find some way, which is using "GoSoftLite Export/Import", but it will merge all meshes as an one piece...
