GTX Titan and 780 performance

Post by mirkoj » 03 Jun 2013, 10:24

Hey guys.
Recently I had bunch of posts and benchmarks covering gtx580 and 7970, and back then it was not hard to see which one gives more with 7970 leaving gtx in dust with viewport performance.

Now with redshift3d testing it would be nice to get some reviews on new Titan and gtc780 and their viewport performance.
OpenCL will hardly be used in any rendering GPU engine so not really something look for but redshift3d got some nice progress and looking sweet, but uses only CUDA for the time being.
Would be great to see how these new cards performs in viewport.

Side note, anyone gto any of firepro cards, w7000, w8000 or w9000?
Would be great to compare those and some quadros with same benchmarks as these gaming cards. There isn't single benchmark review on the net comparing gaming and pro cards side by side.

Also anyone tried mixed setup with two different cards, ati for viewport for example and leaving an nvidia card for rendering only, how drivers are living together and details like that. Is it worth troubles :)
Cheers!

Note you can also hard mod gtx into quadro now by replacing a few resistors.
Would be interested in seeing benchmarks.

The 780 is benchmarking between 80-90% of a Titan in gaming style benchmarks at 60-70% of the price.

The difference in SI viewport could end up being negligible.

There's definitely a gap in the market for a Professional Software Benchmarking Site but I guess that market is just too small for sites to be interested in.

Hi mirkoj,

I have two different cards setup, but noth are nvidia. I'm using the lower end GT 640 2GB for viewport work , at the same time doing heavy renders with my GTX 680 on another scene. And the freedom is just great. No more sitting and waiting for renders to finish. You can continue working normally. But I haven't tried using two different brands of GPUs. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.
