Kelvin Wave deformer ICE c++

Post by jujut » 19 May 2013, 23:43

Hello,

I am trying to create a kelvin wake deformer based on : "Kelvin Wave generation - Wigly hullform by David Brown" -> http://www.thecove.org.uk/NavalArchitec ... Index.html (thanks to Shlyaev).

I've decided to create a c++ compound in a way to learn the process between C++ and ice.
Below some pictures of the ice compound.

Great Job. Quick thought, put a point position input to Kelvin Wave. 1st Kelvin Wave thats the grid, but it allows daisy chaining them 1KW to the next etc. It would be interesting to see if/how that helps it cope with overlapping waves, when the pointcloud is in the sim stack.

Very good!

I had a go at trying this in ICE a few years back but could not figure all of it it out and the reference maths were a bit too complicated for me. that link you provided looks like it might be doable now :)

what happens when your cube boat turns - does the wake overlap..?

anyway very good to see this

Unfortunately the link gives me a 404. Nothing on the Wayback Machine either.

ah shame, it was some good infos. had salvaged some of the cpp files if thats any use..? . was thinking that this was easier to decipher into ICE than some of the equations ;)

Thanks for you reply.

@Letterbox : sorry i don't understand your sentence

Actually this customNode just generate a pattern of a kelvinWake, so it don't work with and animated boat. The wave are overlapping. I've to investigate more in a way to implement timing and animating position.

The link (http://www.thecove.org.uk/NavalArchitecture/NAIndex.html) look dead since yesterday, and unfortunately i don't save the v4 cpp file, it was in my temporay file... :-w
Does anyone have download it?

yes I downloaded v2 & 4 cpp. I am at work right now but will upload them here later tonight when back to the computer at my flat. I guess some of the equations are backed up on wikipedia ;)

here you go (attached) it is actually in google cache here..

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... clnk&gl=be

I could not add a .cpp or .txt so I renamed to .zip. just rename it to .cpp and should be ok
