softimage slow

it is taking softimage about 10 minutes to open the dialog box for open/save file... the software is working fine, just very very slow.
need help please

which SI version? on which Windows?

Is it just SI or other app also? May be you have some unreachable network drives? In this case, disconnect its.

about network drives, easy:

start a Command Prompt
then, 'net use'

'net use' command display all network drives...

Use the plugin manager and under workgroups check the paths to which you r connected.

it said:" New connections will be remembered.
There are no entries in the list."
yo gustavoeb! for the workgroups, i went to the plugin manager and then connected to my hard disk coz the list was empty...
nothing changed

actually, i closed and reopened XSI and the workgroups i linked to disappeared. the list is empty again

before you do, I suggest you search on xsi support, there are many tips on the blog about slow start up and some ways to diagnose the problem.

the software is working fine... its just when i open or save a file, xsi needs 10 to 20 minutes to do that which is very abnormal and unproductive....

before, it used to ask me if i wanna resume xsi in standalone mode or in network mode.
now it doesnt...

guys i finally fixed it, my cousin suggested i delete the user and make a new one and it worked! lol!

well... basic test:
start notepad
go to open a file

did you get the same behavior with notepad open file dialog box?

If yes, that's not a SI problem, but a Windows problem. Maybe explorer plugins?
