Maya New Tools - Name ?

Post by Falam » 13 May 2013, 01:32

What are the new Retopo tools for Maya called again ? These tools we definitely need in Softimage. I also like the GPU and Render Cache abilities in Maya 2014.

Don't make others believe it is a completely bad set of tools, it has advantages.

Then go to a Maya forum to praise them.

Those tools were made for Maya, not by the Maya team, why would I praise the Maya team ?

never said you were going to, but this is a Softimage forum and topics about Maya are typically not really on topic here aside from some that are talking about the workflow back and forth. Your thread here is entirely about Maya modeling tools.

I suggested going to a forum that has a section for Maya topics and post there.

Maya and Nex sucks! I think the two are the best definition of how a modeling workflow shouldn't be. Also there is nothing to be envy of I mean what is your purpose of using Nex? Retopology? yea having a retopo tool right in your choice of application would be cool but if it is the case it should be a solid tool not a junk like Nex

NEX is great, it's a collection of workflow enhancements designed with modelers. You could said it's a version of the XSI tweak tool++ plus a bit of Max for Maya. It's not not really a retopo tool; there is a great draw polygon tool that's part of it and that's what you can retopo with. Someone should be able to clone that in xsi with the interactive tool SDK. It's not about technology, it's about workflow.

But for using Nex you should be in Nex mode. I mean it is not well integrated, clicking to a button for switching to the Nex mode is something like a deal breaker for me. Thats what I meant by saying both are the worst workflow tools for modelers. And Nex usually crashes if you switch to maya modeling tools and thats the thing I meant it is not a solid tool
