Strand deformed Instances to Mesh

Post by Helli » 07 May 2013, 12:15

Hey guys, cause I'm curious is there a way to get strand deformed instances as mesh ?
Actually pre render time ? Or are they only created at render time ?

Doesn't instances to mesh node work in this situation too?

Help me out pls. Which node ??

If theres an Ice node which would give me a mesh out of the deformed instances that would be nice. But the only node I know which is doing somthing similar is directly deforming meshes onto strands and is not using the built in stranddeform.

The stranddeform happens at render time (you can't see it unless you draw a render region). You can try Andy Nicholas' SaveRenderMesh shader: http://www.andynicholas.com/?p=57

Just to add to grahamef's comment, you might also need to get "Dependency Walker" and see if you need to download the "Visual C++ 2005 redistributable" from Microsoft as well to get it operational. And place msvcr80.dll in (i cant remember which one) the directory with the FXNutRenderMesh dll, and/or in C:\windows\system32. And you'll definitely need to restart the app.

Okey ty guys.

Bullit no sadly that wouldnt help because Im not only trying to export the istances but get the deformation done through strands.

Would be lovely to have this feature inside Crate from Exocortex.
