Appending to file for FG map - can you send to the farm?

Post by theboykidney » 11 Apr 2013, 18:10

Wondering if when you are building a single FG map from multiple frames [ie. rendering a sequence with a frame step of 5] if only one machine can write to the file at a time, or could you submit the scene to the farm and have all the clients writing to the same file at the same time? or does that screw thing up?

Also, if the final render is HD, what res can you get away with when building the FG map. Is resolution a factor at this stage?

thanks,
tbk.

Only on machine can write the file. It's not possible to have multiple machines writing all into the same file over network. You could however try satellite rendering, but by the time you got that working you most likely have it rendered on a single machine... ;)
I'm now part of an endangered species...

its not possible because every machine has to know what the other machines rendering atm to correctly renders the differences in the fg solution. you would create a massive traffic overhead and matching all the data itself would take longer then rendering it on one machine.
