LK Lightning 2.5 Updated November 2015 — LK Lightning is now free. Version 2.5 is a major update of LK Lightning. LK Lightning is a toolset which gives
the artist deep but user-friendly control over the creation of many types of strand
systems (not only lightning effects but many things which can be created procedurally
using strands like trees, algae, feathers, ivy). Even though it is a fully ICE based
system, it is designed so that no previous knowledge of ICE is needed. From the product
page about the 2.5 update: The headlining feature for version 2.5 is Stages which allows you to create much more
complicated behaviours by assigning different sets of controllers to particles based
on which stage they are in. With these stages also comes a new category of compounds.
Triggers that allow you to move particles between them.
You can assign a new stage to strands that have been split off as well and thus give them a different set of rules. This is something that was requested many times by 2.0 users and is indeed super useful. Additionally there are a bunch of other useful tools for particle effects in here that stem from an awesome job I got to do at Digital Golem: Detroit Electric - SP01
For some of the features, see LKL 2.0's changelog page (archive) — also worth mentioning is this LKL 2.0 tutorial (archive) which shows step-by-step how British channel 4's 4seven ~ On Screen Presentation was created.

Well, not really generous.
It is relatively cheap, but it does cost money.

This is fantastic leonard. My dream was to make motion blur on unsimulated trees and you make it ;-).
Can I make a suggestion ? Maybe I'm not looking right but it seems we can't get access to a brief description of what compound we can get in LKL2. Just in a telegraph style, it would be very usefull to lookat before buying.

Re: LK Lightning 2.0 is out!
Glad you guys dig it.
Do you mean a list of all the new or revamped nodes? A video talking about all of them? Or something different entirely?
I'm not sure I exactly know what you mean.NNois wrote:This is fantastic leonard. My dream was to make motion blur on unsimulated trees and you make it ;-).

Nice to see it released. Looks great indeed!
I agree some sort of node reference with short descriptions for people that didn't know LKL 1.X would be useful, something to get a quick overview (I think this is what you meant NNois).

Re: LK Lightning 2.0 is out!
thanks,
For example, i have effect X to achive as LKL seems like a swiss knife i would like to check if he is the guy for that.
Already buyed or not, it seems appropriated to check your website or a doc for an extensive feature list of the compounds.
Just an example would be like we see on the EMTools doc http://www.mootzoid.com/wb/pages/docume ... mtools.php this is way better to find the tool i'm looking for.

Re: LK Lightning 2.0 is out!
There are two new tutorials out for LK Lightning:
Installing LK Lightning - Basic Tutorial 01: https://vimeo.com/64021154
A tutorial explaining how to install LK Lightning and how to connect the Sample Scenes project.
LK Lightning Overview - Basic Tutorial 02: https://vimeo.com/64021153
In this tutorial I give an overview of LK Lightning, show how things fit together and go over the different categories of nodes.
