Trying to use a modulate value over time in the angle port gives all kind of inexplicable results.
What would be the best alternative?
I am in modeling region.
Okay the mistake is related to the help file that talks about frames but it is seconds, it also obviously doesn't work in modeling region.

Re: Axis and angle to rotation Vs time
just tested it here and it works fine in the modelling region. you should be aware that all time values are given in seconds unit. so the default value of 1 for start time is a bit odd, since it will take 1 seccond for it to start.
if you want to make it run indefinetly you could turn on loop or turn on pre-post extrapolation for the curve...
alternatively you could use Modify over Time in case you have Motion Tools installed... it has simpler controls (yet, less options)

Re: Axis and angle to rotation Vs time
Thanks. Correct, i had the simulation region and it was blocking it working in modeling region when i tried
I already had noticed the issue with seconds vs frame in that node.
