Hi there,
We're begining a new project and I was asked to check wich renderer/solution would handle this kind of situation.
We would re creat an Infinity Mirror room with leds reflecting. It seams to be a simple task but as you increase ray, then rendering begin to take helling time and it still miss elements far...
Which way could be the best to fake this? (ice multiplication, real retrayce...)

Thank you for your help.

Re: Infinity Mirror room
mr and the new mila shaders should solve this. question will be the rendertime and how exact/noisefree the lightreflections will be at high reflection depths because the lights will be smaller so its harder to trace them.

Re: Infinity Mirror room
working on something similar at the moment, and render times are worst I've ever seen.
Have turned down reflections to 1 bounce, and the scene renders relatively quickly until you get to the part of the frame which is at eye level [or camera level really] and it just sits down and takes 5 times the amount of time to create the FG maps on this single row as it does for the entire rest of the frame.
Have never seen anything like it.
Any ideas?

Re: Infinity Mirror room
with all this mirror like reflections what is the use of FG?

Re: Infinity Mirror room
What a strange coincidence, I'm working on an infinity room myself too. It seems everyone has been inspired by Yayoi Kusama's work.
It's only rough but this is my effort using Thea render. It's hard for the noise to completely resolve and to keep the reflected ID lights crisp.

Re: Infinity Mirror room
@Gustavoeb - only sections of the walls are reflective, no the whole room.

but you hopefully dont use real lights that cast all shadow rays around?theboykidney wrote:@Gustavoeb - only sections of the walls are reflective, no the whole room.

Re: Infinity Mirror room
neil - can you not rendermap the parts of the wall that are lit and then disable FG?
An infinity cube with geo as lights renders in seconds with no noise in MR. Add a bit of glow in post and yer done.
