Customize the View Cube System

In the Softimage viewport in the bottom left hand corner there is the traditional X,Y,Z coordinate system, there was a tutorial on how to customize the viewcube. I want to label top,left,right etc with X,Y,Z, preferable even including negative -X, -Y, -Z on the view cube ?

I found a little head/figure to be the best for getting a quick orientation. One layer of abstraction less than having to read "left" "front" or "+X", "-Y" first...

I just replace the images with my own, that is what I was after
