Lagoa Fill Cavity With Fluid

Post by Frank1000 » 06 Feb 2013, 02:06

Hi,
I’m trying to fill a cavity in a closed object with fluid until it is fully filled.
I created a test cavity object and a null and with the null selected I went ICE > Particles > Create > Volume Emission and then picked the collision object as in here http://download.autodesk.com/global/docs/softimage2013/en_us/userguide/index.html?url=files/lagoa_particles_CreatingLagoaFluidEffects.htm,topicNumber=d30e310037 .

now 3 things came up

1) The fluid rips apart when entering the cavity object
Image

2) some fluid particles break through the cavity object

3) here is an unwanted a distance between the cavity object and the fluid.

Pls share how to overcome these issues.

Regards,
Frank

Give thickness to the object.
Even better for speed and only for simul make copy of any of those vertical polygons as unique polygon/mesh(if you give thickenss)

Like Bullit said, your container/collision object will definitively need some thickness! But after you’ve done that there are, IIRC, two more things to note: You’ll probably have to tweak the collision offset to minimize the offset effect in the third image you posted. And you probably will have to tweak the number of substeps for your Simulation accuracy as well.
I'm not sure about the first problem/image, but this could possibly stem from too low substeps and/or too high value of the collision offset also.
:-?
Stay safe, sane & healthy!
