Prevent License Switch

We have 2 Licenses here.

One for SI only and
one for the Maya suite.

if i'm running SI and my colleague runs maya, everything's fine.

if i want to run Mudbox he has to quit Maya in order to set free the Suite License.

but then my softimage takes over the maya suite license too and i have to restart everything in order to set free the suite license.

i'm not shure if you understand the problem but it's VERY annoying.


ANY chance to force SI to ONLY use a CERTAIN License?

Set up an options file.

That's how suite licenses work. Instead of your machine using two separate licenses, you use just one.

Note that if you start Softimage and check out a Softimage license, and then start a Suite app like Maya, then Softimage will switch over to the Suite license and free up that Softimage license it was using.

ok. unfortunately i wasn't able to set up a license file.

because i don't want to completely exclude the Maya Suite License on my computer.
i want softimage to use the SI only license. and when i start Maya or mudbox, they use the MayaSuite License and SI should stick to it's own license...

You need only to exclude the Softimage feature in the Maya ECSP license.

Excluding license usage
You can block access to specific licenses for a user, computer, group of users or computers, IP address, IP address range or by LM_PROJECT
variable association (computer names and user names are case sensitive).
Any users, hosts or IP addresses not explicitly excluded will continue to have access to these licenses.

so i can exclude the Maya Suite from my user account, but what i want is what you suggest. to exclude the maya license from my user accounts softimage.

I guess Suite licenses no longer have product-specific features. I haven't seen an actual license for awhile.

Maybe you should EXCLUDE yourself from the Suite license and use a separate user account to run Mudbox.
