We do have some problems with Gear 1.1.0 and network rendering via Royal Render. It seems that the rigs are broken. The body floats away while the legs and arms stay in place. We installed Python on each computer and put Gear into a workgroup with all the other add ons.
Opened locally the scene renders fine.
Can anybody confirm this kind of problem or found a workaround for this? Caching the data would be horrible.
Cheers
Pancho

Re: Gear rendering problems
Do you render clients have access to the gear plugin AND the python modules and did you set the python path on the render clients ?
It has to be installed an all machines. Check the render log for the part were gear is loaded.

Re: Gear rendering problems
i would do a point cache with point oven, and import it. Its cleaner, and it just needs to read a file rather then calculating the rig. this might be a simpler way to fix the issue then go in and place all the stuff for Gear.
Caching (Geo or particles) is always better and and more reliable when rendering.
hope this helps

Re: Gear rendering problems
It seems that everything is working right now. Looks like as if RR overwrote our workgroup with an empty one, so all the add ons were missing when RR tried to render (the RR workgroup, not the workgroup in our project folder).
Thanks for your hints and tips!!
