I'm playing with strands as a replacement for grass or short hair. It gives allot more control over the sculpting or combing.
Is there a way to fill or interpolate between hair strands at render time...as with hair?

Re: Fill strands at rendertime?
In PhilPack, there is a compound called 'Emit Filler Strands' that generates strands on another point cloud, using the first point cloud as a guides. So you can hide the high-resolution point cloud in viewports.
By the way, I've used the 'core' of mentioned compound for my hair stuff, didn't have any problem at all.

Thanks Mathaeus. It worked very well.
Sebastian Kowalski gave me a nice tip on the xsi mailing list as well. You can set the particle display (property under the pointcloud) to
an amount that suites your needs as well.
