how to convert procedural texture to weightmap for PUSH?

Post by piotrek255 » 22 Jan 2013, 11:44

Hi

How can i convert procedural texture to weightmap so i can use it to push geometry on my object?
I think weightmap should read the brightnes information from my mesh but i dont know ice at all and cant find any videos on vimeo on creating my own PUSH deformer in ICE.

Mark Schoenagel creates a push deformer here:

(around 14:00)

To make a color at vertices map out of a render tree, you can use RenderMap (In RenderToVertex mode). You can connect that map to the push op then.

thanks for the rendermap tip, it works great, i am watching the video over and over again to understand ice more, i hope i will be able to create something that would automate the process so i dont have to regenerate rendermap every time i make a change to my procedural texture. Thanks again
