Hi!
Anyone managed to do a shadow catching ground with VRay?
Cheers!

Re: VRay - Shadow Catcher
It should be possible with this shader as far as i know.
No idea if its implemented in Vray for Softimage tho.

Re: VRay - Shadow Catcher
When i tested long ago this was my notes:
vraymtl>wrapper>material node, surface port ,which will be the sIBL Ground Material
Tick Matte surface
Tick Shadows
Alpha to -1
Problem: MatteShadow Ground should not be visible in reflections go to visibility and tick it off but then the shadows aren't visible either
Matte for all secondary rays in Maya seems to fix it but doesn't appear in Softimage version
I then had the best results putting the background image in diffuse port of vraymtl in ground.
This was a very beta vray.
I also had notes for sIBL rotation etc... But like i said that might be changed long ago.

Also forget transparency with alpha while using this shader.
