Selection based on Curve ?
I'm looking for a tool that can make a selection based on a curve with a fall off option, I search couldn't find anything, I thought at one point such a tool existed ?

Re: Selection based on Curve ?
I seem to recall something like that existed at some point too, but this must have vanished with the XSIBase, I'm afraid.
Here's a quick workaround ("some assembly required")
Ingredients:

Here's a quick workaround ("some assembly required")
Ingredients:
- BG Weight Map Editor by Bradley Gabe
Advanced Proximity Map by Marc Gutowski
- Install the Python-Plugin "BG_WeightMapEditor".
Dropping it in your Plug-ins folder before startup should do nicely.
Create a WeightMap on your object
Create an ICETree on this object
Import the Advanced Proximity Map Compound
Connect your Curve to the "Influence Geo" port of the "Advanced Proximity Map" Compound
Connect the "Advanced Proximity Map" to the ICE Tree node, obviously, as well
Now you can influence the "Radius" and the "Fall Off Strength" in the Property Page (PPG) of the "Advanced Proximity Map" Compound.
Having done that:
Go to the Select Menu, where you should find a "Select By Weight Map" entry
Click on this and a Property Page opens
Here you can select what the type of components you want selected, the weight value by which you want to select (greater than, smaller than, by range) and a few other things.
Once you're happy with your settings in this Property Page? Press " select"
and you're finally done.
;)
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

It's a workaround (in writing it looks like a lot more work than it actually is, though), but it gives you a lot of control, first by tweaking the settings of the compound that creates the WeightMap and afterwards by tweaking what actually gets selected...
