Mixing Image with Arch Shader
Hi, I'm having a bit of an issue applying a texture using the Arch Shader. I have a texture map with an alpha, plugging it into the "diffuse" doesn't take into consideration the image, plugging it into the reflectivity (I thought it may help) doesn't render the image with the alpha. Plugging a Mix2 color before the "diffuse" port doesn't solve it the issue, plugging the Mix2 color after the Arch shader, which destroys the result, also doesn't render the image ? This can't be hard, what am I doing wrong, gotta be easy.

Re: Mixing Image with Arch Shader
That's not an answer, that's basically an RT*M (talk about negativity) ;)
@Falam - could you perhaps show some screenshots of your specific issue?
I would connect the image to the diffuse and separately to a "Processing > Color Channels > Picker" to get the alpha out and plug this in the "Transparency" scalar port of the Architectural Material, ticking "Transparency Uses Background Alpha Channel" on the "Additional Options" tab of the Architectural Material , BUT I hardly ever use the Architectural Material, so there probably is a better/official way.

That is usually the quick response to read the manual, I already read that portion of the manual.Hirazi Blue wrote:That's not an answer, that's basically an RT*M (talk about negativity) ;)

I tried using the picker and then rendering the object, didn't work, portion of my tree.

Re: Mixing Image with Arch Shader
I just tried it and it worked. All default node values. Are you sure you have UV's on it?

I have clean UV's, $%$% you seen my render tree, it's clean. I'm going to look it over again <sigh>PrvtHudson wrote:I just tried it and it worked. All default node values. Are you sure you have UV's on it?

The screenshot only tells the reader so much. For example, maybe the refr_color is set to black...
Try setting up a grid with xsilogo_alpha.pic and see if you can get that to work.

Check your alpha channel in the color picker ? Isolate it and post the scene. Sometimes I just cut my losses and rebuild everything and it works.

Re: Mixing Image with Arch Shader
It's not showing up, I've adjusting the weight, I've tried a PNG, TIF and even Target (even though Targa can cause problems) the image is placed exactly where I want it on the UV map, that I know because I'm very effective once I have a clean UV map working in Psxsisupport wrote:The screenshot only tells the reader so much. There is one thing I skipped although there shouldn't be a difference I'm using the MIA_Material, arn't teh MIA_Material and the Arch almost directly related anyhow ?
@Blair
Using the XSILogo_Alpha image on a grid, did work using the Mia_Material shader, I checked my original scene and I can't see anything wrong. Here is my complete render tree once again

Re: Mixing Image with Arch Shader
When I apply my image with alpha to a grid, it works. When I apply it to my object it doesn't work. I've changed shaders, I've re-analyzed every aspect of the Arch Shader ( I think I have the shader mastered). I've even applied a Phong shader and nothing works. I exported the object into a new scene tried the Arch Shader and the image, doesn't work. I give up this is unbelievable, everyone is acting as if I don't know what I"m doing, it's just not working, if anyone can explain it without telling me to read the manual or "he doesn't know softimage" I would listen otherwise what is the heck is going on ?

Relax man. No one is dissing you from what I see.
So it ain't your shader. hmmm Are your UV's out of 1,0 and texture wrap is off. Are your faces inverted. Post the scene and let people have a peek at it. I know I'm curious

Re: Mixing Image with Arch Shader
Solved. Odd, I moved a shader around in RT and then restarted SI and it worked. Thanks everyone
