Area goes "Autodesk Single Sign-on login system"

Post by Hirazi Blue » 22 Dec 2012, 10:38

Instead of fixing some long-lasting bugs of the forum software, the Autodesk Area change the way we have to access it by implementing the general "Autodesk Single Sign-on login" scheme. A lot of this is still unclear to me, so don't expect any answers from me!

And, as always, don't shoot the messenger... b-(

The Autodesk Single Sign-on will:
· Enable you to login to multiple Autodesk web properties with one single account,
· Enable you to maintain one single profile for multiple Autodesk properties.

Once the switch is done, you will be required to login to AREA with your Autodesk ID. You will be able to transition to the new system without losing track of prior activities on AREA, and keep your AREA identity if you choose to.

See the FAQ (http://area.autodesk.com/sso_faq) for more information.

If you have any questions or issues please visit the Single Sign-on thread on the AREA Web Site Support forum

(Source - but this post is literally all over the Area, so you can't possibly miss it :p )
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

Possibly a necessary first step before moving to the standard Autodesk forum infrastructure (which is Lithium-based).

I wouldn't read anything into it other than what's written in the explanation. People who have logged onto any other autodesk web sites, like subscription center, student area, beta forums, the store, etc, already have an autodesk ID. Now as to why they're doing this now... well there has never been a good reason to have different team using different solutions to the same problem.
