Hi!

Some users have been reported that sIBL_GUI stopped working for them yesterday, apparently an Avast update was the cause, if it happens to you, double check that your antivirus software is not in cause.

sIBL_GUI access the Web for two things ( It's maybe that behaviour that gets flagged as dangerous by Avast ):

• Online version checking.
• Exception / crashes reporting.

What does this do exactly? Converts an image to an HDRI image then sets up everything in Softimage including passes etc?

No, it makes an IBL scene from sIBL images (HDR images and optimized clones) - for example the IBL image used for ilumination is a blurred version of the HDR one.
This in your 3d application depending of rendering engine.

Anyone can do sIBL images but most are released trough Hdrlabs.

Hi!

sIBL_GUI 4.0.6 is out!

This release is mainly a maintenance release ironing out some issues reported through Crittercism.

A first pass at a Softimage VRay Template has been done and is available with this build, the shadow catching ground is not implemented yet, but planned although I have some outstanding other project to finish before that. I'll however try to fix any issues or bugs encountered with this release.

Windows build now also have a Console executable that will come handy whenever sIBL_GUI doesn't start.

Yes, sIBLGUI will actively check for updates of itself, and templates.
and no, you don't have to be linked to the web to use sIBLGUI itself.

But maybe you can transfer the new templates to the proper folders on your pc after downloading from another machine.

sIBL_GUI 4.0.7 is out!

This release focuses on bringing a neat new feature: Larges Panoramic Thumbnails!

Those are generated once from the background images ( With fallback on the preview ones ) upon startup.
