Getting data from cached files as array

Hi,

Does anybody know of a way to load a sequence of cahced file attributes as an array in an ICE tree. Let's say I have a sequence of cached particles positions and I would like to load the entire sequence' point positions as one array in a (non-simulated) ICE tree. Is this possible?

I'm just starting to learn arrays myself, but paul smith a.k.a pooby has shown a simple way to store data of a whole sequence in one array http://vimeo.com/49833260.
I think if you cache this data, you should have an array containing the data of the whole sequence in the last cached frame.

Would be nice to know though, if anybody know of a tool that can read ICE caches 'as a whole' and build an array from it.

that should be totally possible if you use a cache on file node.
Plug a scalar array containing all your frames at the frame cache.

edit: sorry no, you can't. The "Frame" port expects single values only.

But cant you read the values and push them into an array inside a repeat with counter then? Sounds doable...

Thanks for the tips guys, seems there is no simple solution. Well I wanted to dig into some programming for a while, maybe a good project to start with if I can find the time.

Tried this? Duplicate the timeline in the negative direction, have three ice trees,

1st) reads the file from the negative time line to frame 0 -1 frame
2nd) at frame 0, it adds to an array
3rd) Frame 1... This is your normal run of the mill what ever you want ice tree. (reset your time line?)

not at si, so not tested, but theoretically it should work. Let us know how you get on.
