Mixing AO with FG
I want to mix the Mia_Material_Advanced material and AO. Both the Mix2 and ColorMath nodes don't do a good Job when placed after the Mia_Mat_Advanced shader with FG and GI in the scene ? Any suggestions, the scene although making process has a little to much FG look.

Re: Mixing AO with FG
I do find that doing AO as a separate pass is usually worth while unless there is some reason you can't. It allows for adjustment in post which is nice. There is a fairly easy description on how to do this in the docs and then it's a very easy "multiply" pass in the compositor of your choice.
Also, I can't remember but doesn't that shader have AO built in as an internal option? The Architectural shader does and I thought they were pretty much the same. I'm not at my comp right now so can't check.

The Arch Shader does have an AO setting, but it's not "bold" enough, to get the look I'm after. I've already spent over a week with FG and GI settings, render, tweak, render tweak, insane. I've now settled on a look and setting within FG and GI and sticking with it, since I have the settings the best I can get them at. I may have an answer to my own questionActionArt wrote:I do find that doing AO as a separate pass is usually worth while unless there is some reason you can't. This is the primary reason for doing it as a separate pass. Almost always worth it. ;)Falam wrote:I've already spent over a week with FG and GI settings, render, tweak, render tweak, insane.
