hey folks..
a client gave me this model of a car from turbosquid and wants me to animate its wheels.. a really easy thing to do, i thought..
now heres the problem: when i take a wheel and animate its rotation y value, or whatever value, with 2 keys the wheel doesnt just turn on one axis but on all 3. so i thought the local coordinates might be weird. i put the wheel in a freshly generated null object and tried animating that on one axis, still the same problem.
can anybody tell me how to reset the local coordinates of a model to its center?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

You're probably running into gimbal related issues. select the object and activate the rotate tool and switch to "Add" mode. Scrub the timeline with that active to see the axes in motion and see if they are overlapping or rotating oddly. You may need to change the rotation order in the local kinematics ppg.

yeah, the axis are off by something like 15 degrees or so.. this is the case with every model i load into the scene.. even freshly generated ones.. so it must be a global issue..

thanks for the input eric.. i went into the models local transform ppg and tweaked the rotation values in the pivot tab.. works like a charm!
thanks a bunch.. issue resolved!!
