"Camera Display Property Editor > Modes > Selected Objects/Unselected Objects"
Here you can specify the display mode for selected and unselected objects separately.

Re: Viewport Wireframe ... only selected to be shaded
Hi Hirazi,
thx for your reply. ya, i played around with it, read the docu of it etc. but it's not bringing me forward and actually really confusing to me. I understood the concept of how to render stuff according to static, interaction and playback, but in my case now the selected object is wired, some meshes don't show and some unselected appear shaded ... hmp.
I checked the shared object display options and there everything seems normal ...
Can it be a si 2013 bug ?

Re: Viewport Wireframe ... only selected to be shaded
Weird, my very simple test scene seems to work. The only thing I've found is that changing the display mode for the viewport (top right-hand corner) and then changing it back to shaded still resets the display mode settings in the camera display properties again.

For mix shading to working, don't forget to unchek "override object properties" at the top of the shading menu (ex: wireframe)
Its cool because you can mix shading model, then override with this option the whole scene if need

Re: Viewport Wireframe ... only selected to be shaded
... hmp, still same problem. some objects either show as wireframe in shaded viewports and disappear completely if not selected ... computer restarted etc. but still. Is this possibly a 2013 bug ? r is there another switch somewhere I've setup by accident ?

Re: Viewport Wireframe ... only selected to be shaded
... did, but still. Exported whole stuff and re-imported in fresh scene, now it works fine. Hope it stays stable now. Either bug or magic switch somewhere.

Re: Viewport Wireframe ... only selected to be shaded
that setting is per-camera, not per viewport. that can be confusing. when you import models, it doesn't import and overwrite cameras
