I was tryin ti figoure out how to convert a procedural texture like the ones from enhance Xsi to a jpg, anyone have some solution?
Thanks

Or Color sampler, check the manual, it's clearly explained. for a good quality texture, start with a 2k output.

Re: How to convert procedural to texture
Correct me if i'm wrong, reading the manual both the Rendermap and Color Sampler convert and bake the texture but with the actual llighting in it, which i dont want.Fer wrote:Or Color sampler, check the manual, it's clearly explained. for a good quality texture, start with a 2k output.
Basically what i would like to do is use the enhance Xsi procedural shaders with a render engine that doesnt support them. So my idea was to create a procedural pattern map it to the object and export it as texture, so i can apply this texture to the object and material in the external render engine and it renders it.
Baking wont do because it bakes the light and shadows wich i dont want.
Thanks a lot for help

Re: How to convert procedural to texture
I don't know about the color sampler, but rendermap has an option called "Surface Color Only (albedo)", which I abbreviated as "albedo" in my previous post, that "bakes object surface color into the rendermap output image, without considering the current illumination environment."
;)

Re: How to convert procedural to texture
I'm not an expert in this but could another option could be to use a constant shader?

Re: How to convert procedural to texture
As Hirazi said, "albedo" option should do the trick. While ago I did literally thousands of baked textures for games, it was my first job with XSI, so I know what I talking
. However, it doesn't work as expected with "unusual" materials, let's say there is a chance for double, additive blended "albedo" in case of Metallic Paint.
Generally I've used what Action Art said. That is, Constant material, or, to avoid alpha issues with Constant, just a Lambert with plain black diffuse and texture plugged into incandescence of full weight.

Re: How to convert procedural to texture
No, you won't have any shading in your baked texture, just create a lightmap, specify the resolution, the format, chose
RGB if you don't have an alpha.
Connect the lightmap to the texture port of the color sampler, your desired procedural
texture to the input port, and the resulting color sampler to the lightmap material port.
specify lightmap creation in your optimization tab of the render region options, drag a little render region just to launch the map creation.
and voila! grab your baked texture where you did specified it in the lightmap texture path.
you don't need to connect anything to the surface or shadow port material if you're not sure.
